How Do I Amend My License?
- Log in to eLICENSING
- To change contact information for a license, such as phone numbers, email addresses, and contact person, select “Change General License Info.”
- For other changes, select the “Amend a License” option. Provide the information about your business change, the documents related to your change, and your amendment application fee.
- Note: A business name change may require a new license application.
Typical documentation for a specific change
Add/remove/change assumed name
- Assumed name certificate for new assumed name(s) filed and registered with the Secretary of State (for corporations, LPs, LLPs & LLCs) or the county where the dealership is located (for sole proprietors and general partnerships)
Add conversion package
- Attach a list of the names by which applicant identifies the new conversion package(s) installed on new motor vehicles
- For each new conversion package, provide a detailed description of the modifications performed by applicant on new motor vehicles.
- A copy of each warranty agreement currently in force governing conversion of new motor vehicles by applicant.
- Brochures or photographs depicting your new product(s), with a description of the product specifications.
Add new motor vehicles to be converted
- Attach a list of each new motor vehicle line-make applicant will be converting.
- For each new line-make converted by applicant, attach a list of any franchised dealers in Texas to whom applicant sells or otherwise markets its converted new motor vehicles. INCLUDE NAME, BUSINESS ADDRESS, GENERAL DISTINGUISHING NUMBER (P-NUMBER), AND FRANCHISE LICENSE NUMBER OF EACH DEALER (required for each applicant).
Add dealer(s) related to a converter license
- For each line-make converted by applicant, attach a list of any new franchised dealers in Texas to whom applicant sells or otherwise markets its converted new motor vehicles. INCLUDE NAME, BUSINESS ADDRESS, GENERAL DISTINGUISHING NUMBER (P-NUMBER), AND FRANCHISE LICENSE NUMBER OF EACH DEALER (required for each applicant).
Remove dealer(s) related to a converter license
- For each line-make converted by applicant, attach a list of any new franchised dealers in Texas to whom applicant NO LONGER sells or otherwise markets its converted new motor vehicles. INCLUDE NAME, BUSINESS ADDRESS, GENERAL DISTINGUISHING NUMBER (P-NUMBER), AND FRANCHISE LICENSE NUMBER OF EACH DEALER (required for each applicant).
Add a new line to a franchise license
- Evidence of Franchise (Form LF131) or executed dealer agreement.
Remove an existing line from a franchise license
- A franchised dealer must obtain a license to operate a service-only facility. The dealer may not obtain a service-only facility license to service a particular line of new motor vehicles, unless the dealer is franchised and licensed to sell that line.
- Note: Once a line is removed from a license, under Texas law the dealer is no longer eligible to perform manufacture warranty service for said line(s) unless the dealer is also licensed to sell the same line at another location under the same business entity. Change in GDN ownership due to the death of a Sole proprietor
- Death Certificate
- New bond or rider and Power of Attorney issued under the new owner’s name
- Current copy of new owner DL
- Assumed name certificate for new assumed name(s) filed and registered with the Secretary of State (for corporations, LPs, LLPs & LLCs) or the county where the dealership is located (for sole proprietors and general partnerships)

Replacement of a partner
- Assumed name certificate for new assumed name(s) filed and registered with the Secretary of State (for corporations, LPs, LLPs & LLCs) or the county where the dealership is located (for sole proprietors and general partnerships)
- Copy of current driver’s license for new owner
- A new bond or rider and Power of Attorney showing the name change.
Adding Lessors or Lease Facilitators
- A list of new lessor(s) or lease-facilitator(s), including name and address, with whom you conduct or intend to conduct business.
- Disclosure of fees paid to applicant by new lessor(s).
- Disclosure fees paid to the lease facilitator upon establishment of the lease. If you do not use lease facilitators, you must state that.
- Provide a copy of the form your customers sign. It must include:
- Statement the retail customer has to sign verifying the customer is aware there is a lease-facilitator getting a fee.
- Company name, logo, address, and phone number
- Today’s date
- Spaces for customer’s name and signature
- Spaces for Lease Facilitator’s name and signature
- LEASE FACILITATORS: Copy of each signed agreement between you, the applicant, and new lessor(s), disclosing its terms
- LESSORS: A copy of each signed agreement between you, the applicant, and new lease facilitator(s), disclosing its terms. You must provide an agreement with each new lease facilitator.
Deleting Lessors
- Name of lessor(s) with whom applicant no longer conducts business, including name and address, with whom applicant conducts or intends to conduct business.
Changes in Line-Makes for Manufacturers/Distributors
- Add new line
- sample dealer sales and service agreement.
- brochures or photos of new product with description of the product specifications.
- Sample MCO.
- Warranty Agreement provided to retail purchaser.
- Dealer’s list for new line.
- Delete line
- Confirm there are no outstanding manufacturer’s warranty.
- Confirm there are no franchised dealer with product to sell.
Addition of Dealers for Manufacturers/Distributors
- Attach a list of any new franchised dealers in Texas. Include name, business address, General Distinguishing Number (P-number), and franchise license number of each dealer (if dealer is already licensed in Texas), and list the line-makes and types of vehicles each dealer is authorized to sell.
Delete Dealers from Manufacturers/Distributors license
- Attach a list, including name, business address, GDN(P#), and franchise license number, of each dealer with whom you no longer do business.
- Attach documentation for each dealer explaining why the franchise relationship has terminated.

Notice of Change in Warranty Information for Manufacturers/Distributors
- Attach a copy of each new warranty agreement currently in effect between the applicant and its franchised dealers governing all motor vehicles produced or distributed in Texas by applicant.
- Attach documentation setting out the new basis for compensating dealers in Texas for labor, parts, and other expenses incurred in connection with applicant’s motor vehicle warranty agreements (hourly rate).
- Attach documentation setting out the new warranty protection provided a retail purchaser of the applicant’s products.
Notice of Change in Preparation and Delivery information for Manufacturers/Distributors
- Attach documentation setting out the new preparation and delivery obligations of applicant’s franchised dealers in Texas before delivery of a new motor vehicle to a retail purchaser.
- Attach documentation setting out the new schedule of compensation to be paid to applicant’s franchised dealers in Texas for work and service performed in connection with the franchised dealer’s preparation and delivery obligations.
Change in Distributors
- Provide name(s) and address(es) of all new distributors involved in the distribution of motor vehicles manufactured by applicant.
- Provide a list of distributor(s) with whom applicant no longer does business.
Change in Manufacturer
- Provide name(s) and address(es) of all new manufacturers for whom applicant will act in Texas. If new manufacturer is licensed in Texas, include Texas motor vehicle manufacturer’s license number and expiration date.
- Provide a photocopy of each contract under which applicant will act for a new manufacturer.
- Provide a list of manufacturer(s) with whom applicant no longer does business.
